About Summer BeachLife

Summer BeachLife is the modern successor to the legendary Summer Beach Volleyball Circuit, which has been around for over 30 years and became known under names like the 'Lipton Ice' and 'Palm Beach' circuits. What once began as a series of beach volleyball tournaments has grown into the largest traveling beach sports festival in the Netherlands.

The founder of Dutch beach volleyball, Frank van Overeem, was introduced to the sport in 1990 and launched the very first circuit, consisting of six tournaments, in 1992. Through his events agency, Free Time Promotion, this quickly grew into the Beach Life Beach Volleyball Circuit, which in its heyday boasted no fewer than 17 tournaments and 40,000 participants. With the support of major sponsors like Lipton Ice Tea and Palm, Van Overeem transformed the circuit into a multi-day festival that elevated beach volleyball as a recreational sport to unprecedented heights. As he explained in 2015: "It was all about the beach, bringing friends, hanging out in a healthy setting. Beach volleyball became a community."

Today, this vision lives on in Summer BeachLife, where recreation and elite sports go hand in hand. In addition to recreational tournaments, open to everyone, national competitions, such as the Top Division, are also held. The 2024 event was especially special with the collaboration between the European Beach Volleyball Championships in Scheveningen and the National Senior Championships in Kijkduin.

Summer BeachLife is more than a sporting event; it's a place where you can play sports, relax, and enjoy yourself, with friends or alone. Register for a tournament, chill on the terrace by the center court, or just come and watch.

Play, relax, enjoy – that's Summer BeachLife.
